"To succeed. leaders must teach their followers not only how o lead, but more importantly, how to be a good follower..."
Today's follower-leader relationships show that followers want trust and are not motivated by what leaders think they would want, but rather by what each specific follower wants. Followers motivate themselves. (Hughes, 1998).
Leadership is taking the robe of a servant just what Jesus did more than 2,000 years ago. He exemplified what it truly means to be a leader. To be a leader is to be a servant. A servant is to put your shoe on the shoes of others. It means understanding the disposition of another person. Just like in teaching, I can be a leader and in its truest essence, a servant, since I"ll be teaching my students not so much about the content of my lessons but I"ll be imparting to them significant lessons in LIFE! I need to see to it that lessons are taught according to their own experiences and circumstances in life. Thus, to be a leader is to be a servant by heart.
I believe, to be a good follower will make a person a good leader in the future.

A VISION.... IN ACTON!!!
" More than words are needed for a Vision to take form in today's world. It requires Leadership and heartfelt commitment..."
A visionary leader is based on a balanced expression of the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical dimensions. it requires core values, clear vision, empowering relationships and innovative action.
In today's generation, there's a lot of leaders may dream wonderful visions of the future...for the good of his/her community...for the country and even for the whole world. But sad to say, only in dreams, it remains a vision...a PROMISE!
A visionary leader is good with actions as well as words and so can bring his/her vision into being in the world, thus transforming it in some way.
As an ordinary and classroom teacher, I envision myself to be a model of TRUTH of what I am teaching and live up the Ignacian-Marian values that will lead me to perfection as God wants me to be. But...this will only be fulfilled by serving and doing the best for my students who are entrusted to my care, by teaching them not only to become an efficient and effective teachers in the future but to continue God's mission...to cater the needs of my students in all aspects of life!
I can be a visionary leader in my own field as teacher, as a mother and as a sister to my students and willing to serve all the rest of my life without expecting a prize, reward or award to be recognized.
I praise and thank God for guiding me all the way!!!

WHAT MAKES YOU A STAR PERFORMER?
Our character is the fount of everything we do. It is the bed-lock of our dreams and aspirations. From our character springs forth of our creative ways to carry out the task in life entrusted ahead of us. It's not about becoming a star for others to be looked upon but it is about becoming the star you envisioned for yourself for the greater honor glory of our Maker.
I am a "star performer" when I direct all my thoughts and my actions to my one and true God whose light is is imminent and limitness. From him, I draw all my strength and become the person He wants me to be. At the end of the day, I will soon return to Him and it's not important how successful I am in all my tasks but how generous I am in giving myself for others. "Success is not about winning; failure is not about losing... What matter most is one's willingness to do his/her best... my best not because of the end but because of my strength of character. Success of being a star is about how many lives have I touched and help changed for the better.
In a nutshell, the essence of performance is our character in doing the tasks without so much thinking of the outcome but in doing the tasks on how they ought to be done all for GOD's GREATER GLORY!

How do you apply the four functions of managment to your: Organization; Immediate Supervisor and Own Position?
The four functions of Management: Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling, assume a great worth in the success of any business every day. (Bateman, Snell, 2007). In all organization, each employee's individual contribution to the success of the company/school is of enormous importance as the company's goals would not be met and success would not be reached. Even with room for improvement.
The first component of managing is planning. An administrator must determine what the organizations goals are and how to achieve those goals. This will come directly from the vision and mission statement of the organization. Setting objectives for the goal and following up on the execution of the plan are two critical components of the planning function.
School Administrators are responsible for organization of the school and this includes organizing people and resources. Knowing how many employees are needed for particular office/post can be critical for the success of a school. Administrators must know their subordinates and what they are capable of in order to organize the most valuable resources a school has, its employees. This is achieved through management staffing the work division, setting up the training for teachers/employees, acquiring resources and organizing the work group into a productive team.
Organizational success is determined by the quality of leadership that is exhibited"A leader can be a manager, but a manager is not necessarily a leader," says Gemmy Allen (1998). Employees see a leader as someone that motivates them and guides them to help meet the school's goals. In an ideal situation, Administrator also serves as the leader. An administrators who want to lead effectively need to discover what motivates their employees and inspire them to reach the school's objectives.
The controlling function involves monitoring the school's performance to make sure goals are being met. Administrators need to pay attention to costs versus performance of the organization. Gemmy Allen stated that "Controlling is the final link in the functional chain of management activities and brings the functions of management cycle full circle." Control allows for ease of delegating tasks to team members and as administrators may be held accountable for the performance of subordinates, they may be wise to extend timely feedback of employee accomplishments.
These four functions of management: Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling must be considered in any management position, especially in our school St. Mary's College of Tagum, Tagum City. Both administration and Management Council go hand in hand towards the attainment of its goals and objectives and to produce quality graduates.
