"What is constant in this world is CHANGE". This is the usual and common quotation I've ever heard from people especially close to me, even from some heads of schools. The need to change is a huge challenge for organization. Too many believe that change management stops with budgetary planning.
Change is pervasive through the organization and has huge impact on the operations of the business especially in schools. Everything is changing with the change of time... with the change of administration. There is a need to change management and leadership styles whether planned or unplanned... it is the transformation of the structure, style, infrastructure, human resources and other managerial patterns of the organization targeting future aims and objectives of the organization.
In school, like in our school, it is always expected, a change of administrator or President is also a change of management and leadership styles that need another adjustments of heads, faculty and staff and even the whole community. But CHANGE when effectively managed... employees would have a solid understanding of why change is happening, they're able to engage in both the solution and the change. Resistance is identified and dealt with early in the process and even senior leaders demonstrate their own the organization's commitment to change and that... CHANGE is less painful to the organization... in the community.... in the school.
As a classroom teacher, I can also be a leader in my own way. I need to change the way I manage the class as well as my styles and strategies for them to be more motivated to participate, inspired to go to school and determined to pursue their studies. The change of classroom management and teaching strategies and styles can also be similar to change of management and Leadership styles as Head of the School but not because you're new to that position, but because you want your people... the whole community to transform for better,,, more committed and love to stay in your school, and most importantly there's CONTENTMENT, that make them live a meaningful life.
